Hello Neighbor is a cute-looking game with stealth gameplay. You will play as a child investigating his neighbor's house. When he catches you, you'll have to start again. And he will catch you many times.

Gameplay: Solve Puzzles and Gather Items 8/10

Hello Neighbor starts with you, as a player, moving into a new house and spotting a creepy neighbor. You think that he has a dark secret, and the answer is in his basement. You should solve puzzles and find items (e.g., keys) to access the basement. Your neighbor will try to catch you.

If you're caught, you will be sent back to your own house. You should be more careful next time because the neighbor will set traps. You can play in a "friendly" mode to remove all traps and make the neighbor less aggressive. You will still have to avoid him. To interact with items, just aim at an object.

Graphics: Surreal and Unique 10/10

The game looks surreal with its cute graphics and horror mechanics. The visuals are so unique that the moment you look at the game, you immediately start writing off all the situations that can happen in the game. However, Hello Neighbor only supports a handful of devices. If you can't find your phone in the list of supported devices, keep your fingers crossed that it will be added one day.

Lasting Appeal: High Replayability 6/10

We think that Hello Neighbor has high replayability. There are several ways to beat levels and the neighbor can catch you in many different ways. The game gets harder every time you get caught because the neighbor adapts and sets up more traps. Just keep in mind that the game is very vague about the puzzles.

Controls: Fundamentally Flawed 3/10

The control system is fundamentally flawed. Many people had to use YouTube guides to finish the game. We won't go into detail, but just know that poor controls can drive you insane. There is no tutorial in the game that could help you out.

Summary

Hello Neighbor is a unique game. It is a throwback to early FMV and LucasArts games. If you use a guide, you can finish it in two hours. However, it can take days of thinking and finding new ways to solve puzzles. It's like watching an adaptation of a good book – some things should have been done differently.
